I chose Harlem Renaissance because i feel that this is a popular subject of African Americans. I think that it's cool to see that black people were succeeding in a way that people never thought possible. During this time frame black people or should i say African Americans progressed as artists and showed the world that they had plenty of talent and that they knew how to use it. Having a little knowledge of the Harlem Renaissance makes me proud of my Culture.
In the story "Sweat", the character Delia was in an abusive marriage. She did everything she could to keep her husband happy. She cleaned for white people just to keep a roof over her head and food on her table. She was a really good woman from my interpretation but it seemed nothing she could do was good enough for her selfish husband. He was evil and in my opinion he needed to die. I can feel why this story is called sweat. she worked so hard and seemed like she was the only one holding them together and keeping things in check. She slaved just to make ends meet and i can appreciate where Ms Zora comes from because i have seen how that is like first hand. 1. She saw that Sykes had kicked all of the clothes together again, and now stood in her way truculently, his whole manner hoping, praying for an argument. But she walked calmly around him and commenced to re-sort the things.
2. He stepped roughly upon the whitest pile of things, kicking them helter-skelter as he crossed the room. His wife gave a little scream of dismay, and quickly gathered them together again.
3. Ah don't keer if you never git through. Anyhow, Ah done promised gawd and a couple of other men, Ah aint gointer have it in ah house. Don't gimme no lip neither, else Ah'll throw'em out and put mah fist up side yo' head to boot.'
These 3 examples are of the abuse that Delia husband gave her.
1."Looka heah, Sykes, you done gone too fur. Ah been married to you fur fifteen years, and Ah been takin' in washin' for fifteen years. Sweat, sweat, sweat! Work and sweat, cry and sweat, pray and sweat!"
2. She seized the iron skillet from the stove and struck a defensive pose.
This is an example of her standing up for herself
Which was even more surprising to me was how bad he treated her but in return needed her
"Delia. Delia!" She could hear Sykes callin in a most despairing tone one who expected no answer. The sun crept on up, and he called. Delia could not move-- her legs were gone flabby. She never moved, he called and the sun kept rising.
"Mah Gawd!" She heard him moan, "Mah Gawd fum Heben!" She heard him stumbling about and got up from her flower-bed. The sun was growing warm. As she approached the door she heard him call out hopefully, "Delia, is dat you Ah heah?"
POEMS
1. Richard Coey
This poem talks about a guy who is rich, however he is really unhappy with himself, he is very friendly but he just isn't happy with himself
"Went home and put a bullet through his head"
He killed himself which is an example of disallusionment. Money is a very important aspect in life but it cant buy you happiness, an to be successful you have to have happiness as part of your list.
2. Mending wall
This one is about a guy who likes his privacy but he also wants to befriend his neighbor.
"I let my neighbor know beyond the hill;
"And on the day we meet to walk to line
He only says, "Good fences make a good neighbor."
3. Dream Defeered
This one is asking a question, " What happens to a dream deffered?" ~ Harlem Renaissance~
4. The Negro Speaks of Rivers
What a name, this is about a man who is talking about the rivers that he has seen. over his time as an example how things grow old well he compares his self to a river that has grown old. I think this is an example of Harlem Renaissance.
5. Incident
this poem is about a child who visited Baltimore he was eight years old and he couldn't remember much of the visit other than being called a "Nigger". And so i smiled, but he poked out his tongue and called me, "NIGGER". that word speaks out, he really didn't have a full understanding on the N word yet. I also think that this would fall under Harlem Renaissance.

Realism
1. a) Mrs Mallard is described to have heart trouble. She seems like the type of person who does everything her husband asks of her. She receives bad news that her husband dies but in a weird way its good news to her. "She said it over and over under her breath! "Free, Free, Free! The vacant stare and and the look of terror that had followed it went from her eyes. They stayed keen and bright. Her pulses beat fast, and the coursing blood warmed and relaxed every inch of her body." To me this showed that she felt that she was held down for a while and now that her husband was dead she was finally able to live life for herself. "Free body, Soul Free." this means that shes happy. Her husbands walks in the home and she drops dead because it was described as a joy that kills.
b) the social issue to me would be freedom and happiness. She wants to show the way women feel like slaves to their husbands. Its kind of like she is showing behind the scene of marriage.
2. a) In the story, " The battle with Mr. Covey" he talks about how hard Mr. Covey work them in his quote," It was never too hot or too cold, it could never rain, blow, hail, or snow too hard for us to work in the field. Work, Work, Work was scarcely more the order of day than of the night." this shows how hard he was on his slaves. When Mr. Covey got into an argument with Mr. Douglass changes his whole outlook on him. the fight he had made him never hit Fredrick again. When he quoted, "You have seen a man made a slave, you shall see a slave made man." I think that he stood up for himself and showed Mr. Covey that he wasn't afraid anymore.
b) The social issue would be slavery, he is showing the way that slaves were treated, unfairly and tortured everyday of their life.
the purpose.....
Fredrick Douglass unlike most slaves had a little education. He wanted others to see what he went through on a daily basis let alone what others did also. "This battle with Mr. Covey was the turning-point in my career as a slave. It rekindled the few expiring embers of freedom and revived within me a sense of my own man hood." That showed that standing up and being a man fighting for what he knew was right made him feel good about his self.
3.In this book i read called Ghetto Heaven it showed how the streets of Brooklyn are how bad the neighbor hoods can be and etc... However this would be realism because as i read on into the story it told how drug dealers would shoot people, and how people struggled everyday just to survive even if it meant doing disgusting things just to make it in the hood.

Do you take this woman? By: RM Johnson pages 1-321
This book was a really good book its about two guys by the name of Pete and Wayne. Pete's mom leaves him when he was ten years old and Wayne parents took him in so automatically they became brothers in there eyes. They both are in love with this girl name Carla but Pete had her first when they were in college. Wayne somehow managed to get her to leave Pete and odd months later he was engaged and ready to marry. Wayne decided he wanted to sleep around on Carla before the big day. Pete was totally against the idea and told him not to do it. About a week later Wayne told Pete that he had done it and Pete ran straight to Carla with the new. He knew h was wrong but he was looking out for her thinking he was being a good friend. about a year or two later Pete married Carla, and Wayne was there to be his best man even though it hurt him to see his brother marrying the girl of his dreams....well the book goes on to say that Carla and Wayne all of a sudden starts seeing each other behinds Pete back. Pete was always trying to make his relationship work. But Carla was pulling away from him this went on for 2 months until Pete said he was tired of her excuses about why she was treating him the way that she was. So being upset and neglected he went out to the bar found a woman and took her back to the hotel for an night cap. He was man enough to tell Carla what he did and she didn't take it lightly even though she was the one that caused everything. so she told him that she was going to sleep with another man just to make it even because although she was seeing Wayne she wasn't sleeping with him she was just having dinner and talking as they put it. So Pete says he wants to choose the person that she sleeps with although he really didn't want to. Pete chose Wayne although he knew it would change things with all three. But Wayne and Carla made a promise not to do anything with each other just to make him think she did so he can carry the feeling of being cheated on. Wayne was engaged to a girl by the name of Michele she went along with the idea only because he said nothing was going to happen. well Wayne went ahead and told Pete about the plan without Carla knowing. Wayne an Carla ended up sleeping together anyway and they realized that they still had feelings for one another. so Carla told her husband that she had planed on seeing Wayne to see if he had any ties still connected. Pete was hurt and he went to his job which was a practice that him and Wayne share and beat Wayne up. He warned him to stay away from Carla although he didn't listen. When he found out that Wayne was still seeing his wife he called the police and they went and picked him up because he was committing adultery. Carla bailed him out and Wayne went to fight him again only this time he had hatred in his eyes and a look of kill Carla informed him that she was pregnant and he asked if it was his. she said she wasn't sure and that made him go off the wall he rushed over to Wayne's and they fought for a minute then Wayne fell hard and busted his head on a fire place i think it was. Carla came rushing over and called the police the ambulance came an being that Pete was a doctor he tried everything he could to save his brother and he hated Carla for making him choose between her and his brother who took him in. Wayne died but Pete got out of jail and Carla was still wanting to be there with him but at Wayne's funeral Pete arrived before everyone and talked to him and Carla showed up and Pete told her he didn't want to be with her but his child or his nephew would be taken care of.
Dark Romanticism
1.* Nathaniel Hawthorne would be against transcendentalism because he believed that part of his family was evil. he disclaimed his family and knew all people weren't good and pure. his family was his living proof.
* Herman Melville would not be considered pure or good he witnessed cannibals and knew that the world held hatred and unruly people. He wrote a book about a shark eating a sailor's leg completely off called "Moby Dick". It shows that his mind held evil and that would not be God's thought. i say it holds evil because a clean minded person in other words a pure minded person wouldn't have evil thoughts about eating someone or harming them.
* Edgar Allen Poe is completely weird and crazy; he would have disagreed totally with Transcendentalist because of what happened in his life. This author wrote about terrifying events that happened when the character was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The stories he has written are really disturbing and proves that he needs help.
2. Different personalities have different reactions. When it comes to evil thoughts i would disagree. I don't think this would or the people in it would be considered pure based on what is happening around us everyday and the different events that take place. I think i would be Dark Romantic because nothing/no one is pure in my eyes except GOD.
3.~~~~~~~~~~~~READ THE EXPERT~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. "The Black Cat" was scary and it made him look weird. When i first started reading i got the impression that he loved pets. "I was especially fond of animals, and was indulged by my parents with a great variety of pets" His cat was named Pluto he really seemed to love this cat. "Pluto was my favorite pet and playmate" He then says that he becomes moody and irritated with the cat and looses his mind. "I seized him when in his fright at my violence he inflicted a slight wound upon my hand with his teeth. The fury of a demon instantly possessed e. I knew myself no longer. My original soul seemed at once to take its flight from my body; and a more than fiendish malevolence, grin nurtured thrilled every fiber of my frame. I took then from my coat pocket a pin knife opened it grasped the poor beast by the throat, and cut one of its eyes from the socket! I blush, I burn, I shudder while pen the damnable atrocity." This story was crazy and shows the difference between Transcendentalist and Dark Romantics. Poe really should have gotten himself help. Transcendentalists are wrong because again no one is pure by a long shot. what really stood out to me in this story was how evil and aggressive Poe became in let me realize that everyone has an evil thought every now and then.
5. I really can feel what he is feeling when i read this and it some how depresses my mood. I can imagine how angry he was with the raven for not really giving him a full answer and that ticked him off even further and dug deep into his skin.
I would say that this describes a Transcendental idea because it shows how upset the bird make Mr. Poe. The bird represented evil and pain and it hurt the author to reveal the answers to his questions. Every single question was complied with "Nevermore".
6. Poe's parents died at his birth. He was taken in by a guy named John Allen. He was a drug addict and he often would write about his addiction. Every last on of Edgar's wives died and at each occurrence he got crazier. He was a smart man but he drove himself insane.

Candy Licker By: Norie1-150
This book so far is about a little girl name Candy Raye who lives with her mother and her sister Caramel. They struggle to keep a place to stay and food to eat. There mother is basically a prostitute and she drags candy and caramel around with her to do her thing just to put food in their mouths. Candy and her mother both could sing really good. That is Candy's dream to be able to make it big and sing. One day her mom wanted to try and prostitute her, and a man by the name of Nickey Gabriano comes to save them from the man attacking them and they get locked up. Candy and her mom both went to jail and when candy was out of custody her and caramel was sent to foster care. She was working in a restaurant to help pay for her and her friends to get their demo tape off the ground. well she ran back into Nickey and he offered her a better job in traveling mob money..which is drug money it is really dangerous. He stole her from the foster home and gave her her own apt and when her mom got back on her feet she moved caramel and her mom into her apt. One day Candy got an opportunity to go sing in the House of Homicide which is this big thing in the music industry. and she had to break the news to Nickey he didn't like it and she said that she could get her mom to make the drop but Nickey wasn't trying to hear that because he knew how money hungry her mom was so he make a promise that if his money got screwed Candy and her mom would pay. well it did and when she came back home she found her mom dead and Carmel with a bullet in her head. caramel went to the hospital. Candy went home knowing it was a bad idea and minutes later she was being beaten but the guy from the house of homicide that had heard her sing a couple days earlier came to her rescue because he was really close to Nickey. so they let her go and from now on she is Hurricanes property.

Transcendentalism lit project 4
Transcendentalist believed that god spoke through peoples minds and their work of effort. they believed every human was pure and goo, they also believed that god could communicate to peopole through nature and intuition.
When i first read the writing Nature by Ralph Emerson it was very confusing i know i re-read this writing 3 or 4 times to really get a hang on and even beging to explain what it was talking about. In my opionion it is talking about loving nature. Ralph had the feeling that people didn't love nature or appreciate it. In reality this is actually true. He talks about stars and what if they would appear one night out of an odd amount of years..i ask this question what would be the point? who would that satisfy. To be able to appreciate nature you have to get a feel for it for example in this quote ,"The lover of nature is he whose inward and outward senses are still truly adjusted to each other; who has retained the spirit of infancy even into the era of manhood". To me this is saying that people not only love nature with their hearts but they respect it with their minds.
"Nature" would be a great example of transcendentalism because, the story is describing how mankind and nature interact with God.In this writing the writer expresses how God talks with man through nature. for instance he states that if the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and respect nature. The story also says that His intercourse with heaven and earth becomes a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows. "Nature says—he is my creature, and despite all his impertinent grief’s, he shall be glad with me.
"Self-Reliance" would fit into the different types of ways a man can act as if he has constant attitude changes. There is a time in every man ‘s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better, or for worse. The power that resides in him through new nature, and none but he knows what that which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried. " It takes a divine man to exhibit anything devine". I really feel this quote expresses how man has been chosen because of his bravery and strong mindedness.
"Great men have always done so and confided themselves childlike to the genius of their age, betraying their perception that the Eternal was stirring at their heart, working through their hands, predominating in all their being. To me this is saying that all a man really has to do is put his best effort into something to achieve his goal.
"Resistance To Civil Government" talks about how people should be governed. American government is a tradition, though a recent one was endeavoring to transmit itself unimpaired to posterity, but each instant loosing some of its intensity. The standing army is only an arm of the standing government. To sum it all up having a government is about wanting to do something or make a change for the better.
This story tells how people under the government havt to abide by the rules that are set. A transcendetalist would not like having a government. Trancendentalist didn't believe in a such thing a an government because they thought the human individual mind was the strongest in the universe.
4. Susan and David planned to marry as soon as they graduated high school. David's father owns a small grocery store, and he has promised David a full-time managerial position once he graduates high school. During their senior year, Susan begins to think she would like to go to school hundreds of miles away. In the Spring, Susan recieves a full scholarship to this far-off school, and she has also continued making wedding plans with David.
first off me and david would have had to have a clear understanding an alot of planning to do i would make sure that he was willing to understand that i was trying to better myself by going off to a good school. i would have continued to plan for marriage but i would get my schooling out of the way first. Most of all i would have prayed about it because i feel that god will never steer you in the wrong place.

The Coldest WInter Ever By: Sister Souljah 80-465
OK last i wrote about how Winter ran off to Brooklyn. she drove her moms new car and pretended to be going to some college party. when she tried to sneak back in the house she pulled the car around the back. Her mom was out there fixing to hit her with a bat because she thought it was the police. She then explained to Winter that the police had broken into their home and took Santiaga to jail. Winter started crying and so did her mom but little did they know worst was right up the road. They were waiting around for a phone call from Santiaga to give them instructions, their whole life they were being given everything that they didn't have anything or anyone to fall on bc their family didn't really like them bc they turned against them and thought they were better than every one. Sister souljah plays a part in the book where she is inspirational she wants everyone to take the right path no matter the age or anything. Midnight one of the workers for Santiaga was very big on Sister Souljah even though he did his deal for Ricky he always keep his self clean. He didn't stash his stuff in his place he kept it safe so he was the only worker of Santiaga that didn't go to jail. Winter had a big crush on Midnight but he wasn't really looking to be with her, he said she was childish and too stuck up. Winters mom went to jail, and winter needed answers it was just her bc child services took her sisters. She ended up staying with her aunt until her mom got out but when she did she got on drugs real bad and her aunt started stealing from here and called defax to come and get her. winter ended up in a children's home and since she was 17 she only had a few months there but that was not going to happen for her. she started a hustle just like her daddy instead of drugs she was getting her pregnant friend Simone to steal things for her an she would sell the products to the girls in the house. After a while of stealing Simone got locked up and she needed winter to get her out. Winter bailed out and Simone lost her baby in jail and she blamed winter and surely was going to kill her when she say her. Winter couldn't go back to the house bc Simone would be waiting for her and some of the girls from the house so one of the girls that was a fan of sister souljah took her to sister souljahs house. Winter could not stand sister souljah she thought everything she said was worthless when in life it really made since. so she stayed there went to concerts and chilled with sister souljahs sister. Lucy i think her name was, was a real big trouble starter she hung out smoked weed and got drunk all the time and she liked staying with her sister bc of all the freedom and the famous people they got to meet. Winter did it for a little while but she ended up stealing money from an event they did, and left she ended up with a drug dealer boyfriend. She ended up in jail, and so did her home girls from he hood, only bc they were girlfriends of drug dealers.
I liked this book you really have to read it to understand more of what its about. when i first picked this book up i thought i wasn't going to like it but i couldn't put it down this book is a life lesson bc it shows you real life situations. I recommend this book to any and everyone i really enjoyed this book.

American Romanticism Lit Project: 3
1. I read the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The story takes place i n a small town, which was referred to as Tarry Town. The town was given its name by the good housewives of the adjacent Country. This tale is about a "Headless Horseman" who haunts Sleepy Hollow. In this tale they state a man named Ichabod Crane. Ichabod goes to Tarry Town and makes Brom Bones mad. Brom Bones was this big man made up of mettle and mischief, and which no one but himself could manage. They have a huge feud. One night Ichabod was told the tale of the "Headless Horseman". The story goes on to say that Ichabod was confronted by the Horseman and he some how disappears. In my opinion i think Brom Bones Confronted him when no one was around and killed him.
2.* What i found that i thought was romantic would be," A pleasing land of drowsy head it was, Of dreams that wave before the half-shut eye.* And of gay castles in the clouds that pass, Forever flushing round a summer sky. When i read this i could see where the author was coming from i could really imagine things the way he wrote it.
3. This poem is about a17yr old boy, William Cullen Bryan. To me he is describing how he feels aobut Mother Nature and death as if he feels dead, or as if he has died. The poem is basically saying that no matter what type of person you are or the life style you live we will all die the same, not actually the same but your body will be nutrients to the outdoors. Its saying that you shouldn't worry about death because when you are dad or depressed death will come quicker. Some people say that your mood depens on the weather say for instance if its raining outside you may feel restless, or if your having a bad morning it will reflect on your day. what makes the poem romantic is the nature and the meaning to it.
4. The point of the Poem Ropewalk was about a worker who prepared ropes. He describes the things he seen or the things he wanted to happen while working. The way he speaks makes him creative, what i like about it is how he could make you feel like you were there to see everything like you could feel the seabreeze, and see the ships. this is romanticism because it almost seems like everything he spoke about you could feel which would be another example of nature.
5. My painting is a good exaple of Romantacism because its free its a nice piece of work and when i look at it it makes me want to be in the same place. this could be considered romantic because of the setting. its a type of duck in maybe a pond with a big tree of some sort kind of on the side and rocks in the water. this would most likely be considerd a nature picture.

Writing II Discriptive writing
We took our seat in a private booth away from everyone at the restaurant called the California Patio Grill at Daytona Beach and looked at the menu. The restaurant was so romantic. There were candles set in the middle of each table; a bar was in the middle of the restaurant, and the best thing about it, the restrooms were in the back. The smell of seafood, burgers, chicken and all kinds of other food filled the restaurant. There were many different colors mixed together that made it cozy and comfortable. There were burgundy, greens, and yellows mixed with brown; it was really nice.
Darien was looking into my face telling me he loved me and that he was so happy we were able to take this trip to Daytona Beach. I replied saying, " I’m just glad we have a chance to spend one on one time together instead of having everyone in our business."
Darien was looking really nice. He had on a brown and cream striped polo with some brown Evisu shorts. His hair was nicely corn rolled with plenty of designs. He had on his custom made Forces, which were brown, and his name was written on them in cream colors. He had it going on. I on the other hand had on a cream top with a brown skirt, which had cream designs on it, and some brown strap up heels to go with it. My hair was in an up do with pretty twists. My nails were manicured with a French white tip and so were my toes.
Darien interrupted my train of thought when he said, " baby, what’s on your mind?" I was still looking at him as I adjusted my self, shifted, and brought up another subject. I kind of felt nervous because it had been a while since we had gone out on a romantic date and I was at a lost of words. I lied and told him I had a lot on my mind.
Our waitress approached us asking, " what can I get you two tonight". Darien said that he was going to have the Rose Oysters, along with the shrimp platter, and Sprite to go along with it. I thought he was being a pig, but I didn’t say much. I’m not that big on seafood so I ordered chicken strips and fries with a sweet tea. She wrote everything down and disappeared into the big restaurant filled with people dancing and enjoying themselves.
The kind of music that was playing was R&B mixed with Reggae; it had a nice soft steady tempo that people were loving. It was so nice to see people smiling and having a good time. Ten minutes later the waitress was back with our food. It seemed like so much- I was sure neither one of us were going to be able to eat all of it. It had a nice taste. It wasn’t like it was back at home; the seasoning was really different. It seemed to taste different in every bite. We ate and danced and talked for a while before we headed back to the hotel.
When we got back we still had so much energy. The night was still young and we were having too much fun to go to sleep. We had a suite fixed up really nicely with a king-sized bed, balcony, Jacuzzi, and a bar. The bed and the couch were so soft. The water in the Jacuzzi was really warm. There was also big screen TV and a telephone.
We changed clothes and we headed to the beach. It was dark, but the sand felt so good between my toes. The water looked as if it was calling my name. The breeze felt so good hitting my skin in a soft way. Darien was holding me very closely when he said, "baby I have something really important to ask you". I got really nervous and said," baby, lets go for a swim or just stick our toes in the water." He had a look of frustration on his face, but he didn’t get upset. We ran and jumped in the water, and it was so cool. It made me feel so good; I felt like I could stay there all night. I was in a different world away from all of my worries and problems. It was around 12:45 when we got back to the room we showered and had a couple of drinks then we went to bed.
I woke up around 11 to find him cooking breakfast. He said, " Good morning baby". I replied by repeating him as I went to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I was rubbing my fingers over my hair when I seen it. It was an engagement ring it was so big and heavy. I turned around to head out of the bathroom to ask him what was going on but he was right behind me, on his knees. He said "baby I love you, I have been trying so hard to get the strength to ask you to marry me. I tried at dinner last night, I tried at the beach but it seemed as if you were on to me so I thought it would have been best to do it when you were caught off guard." I started crying, then he finally asked me, "baby will you marry me", I was still sobbing like a baby and said, "Yes!"
We shared breakfast on the balcony to feel the breeze and look at how pretty the beach looked during the day. The sky was a pretty blue and so was the beach but it looked as if they were two different blues. The beach was sort of a turquoise blue, mixed with sand and the sky was almost baby blue, with the sun beaming down shining the beach. After breakfast we went shopping. I got spoiled for three days. We added more spice to our nightlife trying to check out every bar and restaurant they had on the beach.

Rationalism Lit Priject
1. The Puritans were different from the Rationalists because, purtians as we discovered believed strongly in god, Rationalists however believed strongly in science. Rationalists had a desire to find reasons for things happening the way they did. Rationalists would find things out by using certain methods mostly Science. An example that Puritans would think was supposed to occur would be getting the flu, they would feel that it was supposed to happen. Figuring out a cure would be an example of the Rationalists point of view because they would want to find a cure or a medication.
2. Read/Browse through the Expert...
3. Franklin is considered a Rationalists because he taught himself science. He was considered atheist which means he didn't believe in GOD. Franklin had a list of 13 virtues, every problem he had he would make a list of them and work them out one problem at a time. He felt he could make changes on his own and that god couldn't solve everything. I don't think the Puritans would have liked Ben Franklin at all because he went against their beliefs. Making a list is sorting your problems out and by making this list Franklin felt he didn't have to consult with god he felt there was another way to do things.
4. My Virtues
1. Money- make more money, work harder
2. Influence- go with what i know is right, don't let others drag me along
3. Life- make more of it live to my ability
4. Time- use it wisely
5. Attitude- loose the nasty one and create a better more positive one
6. Trouble- stay away from anyone that i feel will get me in trouble
7. Friends- make some and stop blocking everyone out of my life
8. Forgiveness- Forgive to the best of my ability but never forget
9. Family- get along with as much as possible
10. Emotions- stop holding them in talk to someone
11. Hurt- don't take my frustrations out on others deal with it in a better way
12. Honesty- take advantage of the opportunity
13. Self Control- don't jump to conclusions, keep my temper
5. "All men are created equal", The purtians would have considered this as Limited Atonement, god only chose a few to be treated a certain way. Rationalists felt that all men should have the same rules and should be treated the same. they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Puritans would have thought of this as Total Depravity because they believed everyone is born sinful. Prudence, indeed will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. In a way this would be Perseverance of the Saints*puritans*. it's impossible to go against the will of god.

Analytical Writing(R&B)
R&B music, which stands for Rhythm and Blues, is an urbanized form of popular music with strong repetitious rhythms. I chose to Analyze R&B because I really enjoy listening to different artists that have real issues to talk about, and are easy to relate to. This type of music isn’t like most raps or reggae but it shares some of the same qualities. Most songs have a fast beat or a dance beat but R&B simply has a soft beat that makes you think, relax, and reflect on things such as how your day went or how certain things have an impact on life.
R &B was started by African Americans but the father of R&B music was Louis Jordan, one of the most influential R&B artists. Louis Jordan was a pioneer of style, combining driving vocals and a live-wire electric quitar and saxophone. He was one of the most popular R&B artists after World War 2. R&B has its roots in Jazz and Blues. The most common instruments you hear when listening to R&B are pianos. Guitars, drums, saxophone, trumpets, violins. Sometimes back in the day they would use harmonicas. Some of the instruments used in R&B music are used in Reggae music as well but however they produce different sounds. The instruments mainly depend on the artist and the way the song is flowing.
R&B in a sense is different from rap music because it’s not talking about how your living or making your money, the street life, gangs, or violence. The main focus is love, pain and wanting to make a difference in life. If you listen closely to the lyrics in an R&B song you’ll find that it’s mainly talking about the love the artist have for the person or wanting to change something around them or something in their life. Most R&B songs have a positive vibe, and are easy to listen to and catch on to, especially if you’re feeling down or feeling like doing something over the edge, I feel that everyone can relate to at least one R&B song.
My Favorite artist is Keshia White. She sings a song called "Weakness in Me", in this song she talks about not being strong enough to stand up for herself. In certain situation I feel that way because when your going through certain things its easy to get pushed around if your under pressure. In her song you get the impression that she is in love and that she’s having a hard time dealing with it she states in one of her verses "why do you come here when you know I got troubles enough, why do you call me when you know I cant answer the phone, make me lie when I don’t want to, and makes someone else some kind of unknowing fool make me stay when I should not are you so strong or it’s the weakness in me". I feel like this sometimes when I’m arguing with my boyfriend and I really need time away.
There are many artists that open my ears, such as Alicia Keys. In most of her songs she sings about love, about how she came from nothing, or not having someone to being someone that made a difference in someone’s life. In her song "If I Ain't Got You she sings"," Some people want it all But I don't want nothing at all If it ain't you baby If I ain't got you baby (Some people) want diamond rings Some just want everything But it means nothing, nothing If I ain't got you" I really like this song because that’s how I feel about my boyfriend even when we are upset with each other.
So as I broke down different parts of R&B from the song to the instruments to the artist, I feel I have convinced readers that R&B has great music and I think everyone should listen and at least give it a try. I think R&B music disappeared the world would be different in a sense because we would have way more violence than now. R&B is a relaxation period, give people a chance to think things over.
The Colddest Winter Ever pages 25-60
We have established that Mr. Ricky Santiaga is a big drug dealer. He decided to move his family to Long Island because things were getting out of control with his hustle and with outside men trying to corrupt his business. Winter wasn't so happy about this decision because she didn't want to leave her friends. However they did and winter wanted to get back to Brooklyn but her dad said he didn't really want her in Brooklyn alone so she schemed a plot to ask him could she go to get her hair done, because she didn't like the way the people in long Island did her hair. Winter is very sneaky and she tends to get what she wants so she to Brooklyn and tried to spend the night but however one of her daddy's men was ordered to find her and pick her up and take her back home. Santiaga explained to her that it was really dangerous for her to be in Brooklyn and to stay away until he said it was OK to go back. Another interesting part of what i have read is winters mom insisted on going with Santiaga to pick up her dream car for her b-day which he had been promising for a while, he was hesitant because he didn't mix business with pleasure however Winters mom always got her way also so they left, hours later Santiaga ordered Midnight one of his men to pick them up and take them to the hospital her mom had been shot in the face.

Puritans
1. The puritans were English colonist who left England because they had different beliefs and they had different religions then most of the other people. They had beliefs that people thought were weird, and crazy and most likely they didn't agree with what was being said. The Puritans believe that this world is full of sin, and that your born into it and god only saves those that he feel deserves to be saved, or those he want to save. They also believe that god only didn't give his life for every individual that he only died for the chosen ones. Gods grace isn't giving it can not be denied or earned, and if your given grave its going against god. Every puritan believed this it was called Puritanism.
2) Leader of the Puritans, William Bradford, wrote an excerpt called "Plymouth Plantation". He and his religious followers were on a boat named the "Mayflower" and landed on Plymouth to colonize it for the Puritans. He spoke on how thankful people were to finally land after traveling over troubled seas and how he felt about the whole thing. I think it must have been hard to runaway from England and come across seas with people who believe only what you do, and not know where you were going. A few Puritans one day followed some Indians, where they found water and food (corn). They returned to the colony with the corn they had found and showed it to the leader, who then decided he wanted to explore the land they were speaking of. They made a treaty, because the Indians were mad about it. The treaty stated:
a)he nor his people would hurt the Indians or their people
b)if they had taken anything, it would have to be replaced
c)that he send the offender if they do anything hurtful
d)that they shouldn't do wrong by them
e)they couldn't bring their bows and arrows along with them.
The Puritans became the Pilgrims, which we know alot about today. Even if you can't comprehend their beliefs, it's always nice to be understanding and respectful of their religion. Sinners was kind of boring i couldn't really get into it but "Plymouth Plantation" was much more intresting
3) Plymouth Plantation pointed out good beliefs.
3) EXAMPLE1- (Being thus arrived in a good harbor, and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of Heaven who had brought them over the fast and furious ocean, and delivered them from all the perils and miseries thereof) i think that this is an example of unconditional election because they feel that GOD saves those he wishes, and only a few are selected for salvation, and by doing so they feel that it was gods will for them to arrive safely.
Example 2-(But here I cannot but stay and make a pause, and stand half amazed at this poor people's present condition) In my opinion i feel in some kind of odd way this is talking about Total Depravity simply because the people are poor and maybe its because of Adam & eves down fall.
EXAMPLE3-(Neither could they, as it were, go up to the top of Pisgah to view from this wilderness a more goodly country to feed their hopes; for which way soever they turned their eyes (save upward to the heavens) they could have little solace or content in respect of any outward objects. ) i think this one is an example of Perseverance of the "SAINTS", because it seems as if they're questioning god
.4) I think the Puritans were like really easy going people. I don't believe they cared too much about what other people had to say or what they thought about their religion. I think they're really adventurous and ambitious to set out on their own to find somewhere to colonize, even though they found Plymouth by mistake. I think as long as they had God by their sides, they knew they were ok. Sinners kind of gave me a bore, but "Plymouth Plantation" was much more of my interest.
